Samādhi Mental Yoga: An Immersion into Stillness
Samādhi Mental Yoga: An Immersion into Stillness

Yoga isn’t what most people think it is. This immersive experience reveals the untold story of yoga: that its real aim is samādhi—the settling of the mind into still awareness.

TRANŚCEND LIVE is an immersive MindSTILLness session hosted by Vīrya at 113 Spring. This is an evening to immerse in stillness, shifting Yoga from movement on the mat to stillness in the mind.

Details

This session is an experiential container created by Vīrya for 113 Spring. This immersion is designed to bridge the gap between reading about Samādhi and resting in it through four phases: The Story, The Experience, The Teachings, and The Integration.

The Story and The Experience:
After the short film of "The Untold Story of Yoga," you’ll be guided through a simple protocol using harmonic sound as an external cue — not to focus, but to help the mind switch OFF.

This is the direction of Asamprajñāta Samādhi: non-cognitive, objectless stillness where awareness is fully awake, yet free from mental modification and fluctuations called vritti.

The Teachings:
The "Samādhi Pāda Transmission" is a specially created soundtrack where Vīrya has hand-selected key sūtras from Book 1 of the Yoga Sūtras and paired them with simple English commentary.

The audio combines these verses with clear explanation, tying Patanjali’s teachings on Samādhi, non-attachment, and the settling of the mind directly to the state of MindSTILLness you just experienced.

The Integration:
We’ll touch the difference between Samādhi with an object of attention, and the “MindSTILLness” Samādhi without an object of attention, which follows repeated moments where mental activity fully ceases so that the mind is completely still and awareness remains.

We close with space to sit, journal, and share what arose.

The inspiration

MindSTILLness is grounded in over 60 years of peer-reviewed research on Auto Self-Transcending (AST) — a distinct category of meditation with measurable neurological and physiological signatures, including characteristic EEG coherence patterns and autonomic changes (Travis et al., 1999; Travis, 2001; Travis et al., 2009; Travis & Shear, 2010).

Across studies and reviews, AST has been associated with outcomes relevant to modern stress load — including reductions in trait anxiety (Eppley et al., 1989; Sedlmeier et al., 2012), improvements in cardiovascular risk markers and clinical outcomes (Schneider et al., 2012), benefits across atherosclerosis / metabolic measures in at-risk populations (Castillo-Richmond et al., 2000; Paul-Labrador et al., 2006), and PTSD symptom reductions in multiple settings (Rees et al., 2013; Orme-Johnson, 2014). This evidence base is also reflected in major clinical guidance: the American Heart Association has noted that this category has the strongest evidence among meditation approaches for lowering blood pressure (Brook et al., 2013).

At 113 Spring, TRANŚCEND LIVE translates that research into a simple, direct experience — an effortless way to access the “mental OFF switch” and the wakeful deep rest state it enables.

What makes this unique?

Unlike practices that rely on breath control, visualization, or training attention, MindSTILLness is designed to be effortless. It’s distinct from mindfulness — the aim isn’t “better focus,” but deeper settling into wakeful rest — and it’s also different from sound baths: sound is used here as a simple, meaningless cue to help the mind switch OFF, rather than as the experience itself. The session is reset-oriented, grounded in an evidence-based stress downshift and emotional balance, and it’s fully accessible: no prior experience needed — just come as you are.

Co-hosted with

Virya: Vīrya teaches and tracks MindSTILLness (Automatic Self-Transcending) — a modern, evidence-informed approach to wakeful deep rest and nervous system renewal, supported by a multimodal bio-analytics platform. We help people feel calm and mentally resilient in minutes, not months. Through our Transcendometer® and AI-powered brain–computer interfacing, we teach and verify the self-transcending experience using real-time portable EEG, while Ōura, Apple, and WHOOP track the immediate, preceptive autonomic reset.
