Created by acclaimed artist and performer Monica Dogra, the Authentic Voice Method (AVM) is a powerful approach to transforming how we show up, speak, and express ourselves.

At its core, AVM works from a simple truth: what blocks our voice is not a lack of skill, but can be what the body holds onto. Stage fright, self-doubt, and the fear of being seen live in the breath, throat, posture, and personal narratives we carry about who we are allowed to be.

Blending personal narrative, method acting, song and text analysis, and somatic techniques, AVM uses live performance as the catalyst for transformation. Participants are invited to bring a short piece of work, and update it in real time, uncovering and shifting the deeper story beneath the words.

The result is a more truthful performance with expression that feels grounded, emotionally resonant, and personal.

Even for those who are not performers, the experience is deeply impactful. Witnessing others move through their edges often creates powerful shifts offering clarity, release, and a deeper connection to one’s own voice.

This session is for anyone who has felt the gap between who they are in private and how they show up when being seen, and are ready to express with more honesty, power, and presence.

How it works

This is a participatory workshop grounded in mutual support.

You can expect:
- An introduction to the Authentic Voice Method and its core principles
- Guided grounding and somatic awareness to connect to the body and voice
- To work on a short piece of your choosing (song, poem, or text)
- Receive live, one-on-one guidance using questions, performance direction, and somatic techniques
- Witness real-time transformation
- Group reflections
- Closing integration and tools to carry this work into everyday life.

The Science

The method draws from somatic psychology, narrative therapy, and performance practices such as method acting. It is grounded in the understanding that emotional patterns and limiting beliefs are held in the body as much as in the mind.

By engaging voice, breath, and storytelling simultaneously, the practice allows for real-time shifts in how the nervous system responds to being seen. Fear is redirected and harnessed as energy for expression.
