FAQs

What is Guayusa Tea?

Guayusa is a sacred leaf from the Ecuadorian Amazon, traditionally shared by the Kichwa people at dawn. Families gather to reflect on dreams, exchange stories, and begin the day in presence. Naturally caffeinated, it provides clean, sustained energy with calm focus, without the jitters or crash of coffee. Rich in antioxidants, it supports overall wellness, mental clarity, and steady energy.

What Are the Traditional Uses & Health Support of Guayusa?

Guayusa has been used for generations in Kichwa women’s wellness practices, as taught to our founder during her studies in midwifery and natural gynecology with Kichwa midwives, during her time in the Ecuadorian Amazon. These practices highlight how Guayusa has been used as a sacred ally to all phases of womanhood for generations, while also being enjoyed by everyone.

Menstrual support: Traditionally included in blends to help ease cramps and fatigue.

Fertility and reproductive health: Used in fertility blends to support reproductive wellness.

Menopause and hormonal balance: Incorporated into menopause-support blends for gentle estrogenic support.

Labor support: Midwives may offer small sips of Guayusa to help re-energize and support focus if a woman in labor is too tired to push.

Pregnancy: Guayusa is treated as a medicine in small, carefully measured amounts to address fatigue or mild illness, such as colds or flu. While considered generally safe, midwives emphasize rest, following the body’s natural flow, and limiting caffeine during pregnancy.

These uses reflect ancestral wisdom, shared through the
lived experience and teachings of Kichwa midwives, observed firsthand by our
founder during her time in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
